> Provisional 2025 entry list
SRO Motorsports Group Asia has revealed a record multi-class provisional entry list for this year’s Japan Cup campaign.
27 cars are currently registered for Season 4, 18 of which are scheduled to contest the opening round at Sportsland Sugo on June 13-15.
Qualifying sessions and all eight one-hour races will remain live and free to view on SRO’s GT World YouTube channel, albeit with the additional option of dedicated Japanese commentary for the first time. J Sports will also continue to broadcast live, delayed-as-live and highlights coverage throughout the season.
The country’s only domestic sprint GT championship became a standalone series last year when a season-high 17 cars raced at Okayama. That record will be beaten in Rounds 1 and 2, and then increase significantly at Fuji where the majority of the provisional entry list is due to compete.
Others will then appear at Okayama and Suzuka, while additional entries could yet join the GT3, GT4 and GTC classes.
The provisional 27-car list includes 17 GT3s – a significant increase over 2024. Nine of those are Ferraris – by far the most popular manufacturer on this year’s grid.
One of them is again shared by Daisuke Yamawaki and Shinichi Takagi who are returning to defend their overall drivers’ title with K-Tunes, while reigning Am champion – Tadao Uematsu – has also switched to the 296 GT3.
Likewise Maezawa Racing which has upgraded from the 488. One of Japan's biggest celebrities, Yusaku Maezawa, enters as a driver on a full-season basis for the first time after debuting at Okayama's finale last year.
Japan Cup will also make a significant contribution towards the country’s largest-ever GT event when Fuji hosts the SRO GT PowerTour on July 11-13. Approximately 100 GT3, GT4, GTC and one-make cars are expected to compete on a weekend featuring GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS and Ferrari Challenge Japan.
