Hamaguchi, Okura and The Spirit of FFF Racing confirm Japan Cup comeback

The Spirit of FFF Racing makes its SRO Asia comeback this year when Hiroshi Hamaguchi and Mineki Okura campaign a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 in the Japan Cup’s Am class.

The team joined GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS in 2022 four years after its unrelated Chinese namesake clinched the teams’ championship, as well as overall and Pro-Am drivers’ titles, with Lamborghini.

The latter crown was sealed by Hamaguchi who then partnered Okura in 2022-24. Japan Cup was part of GT World Challenge Asia for the first two of those seasons before becoming a separate championship in 2024.

2026 therefore represents this pairing’s first standalone domestic assault.

Hamaguchi was also a GT World Challenge Europe class champion in 2019 before securing eight more Asia Am class victories with Okura in 2022, ‘23 and 2024. On top of that, he was crowned European Le Mans Series LMGT3 champion in 2024 – the same season he also contested Le Mans.

Initially known as Reap Fueling Ambitions, The Spirit of FFF Racing name first appeared in 2023 and was again used a year later when the team switched to Audi for one season. FFF’s traditional black, orange and green livery did not feature on the R8 but is again expected to adorn the Huracan.

The Japan Cup holds its pre-season test at Fuji Speedway on March 18 before Sportsland SUGO hosts the season opener on May 15-17.
